Customer Interviews No. 3

For these interviews, I gave each customer a description of the app and just asked for their general thoughts on it and whether they could see it being successful. I tried not to plan out questions for this one and just ask questions based on their responses. I went to the same area as last time as it turned out to be a pretty good spot for interviewing people.
The responses I got this time were pretty much the same as last time. People reacted positively and saw some potential in the idea. They mainly said as long as it was implemented well and could connect them to students with ease, it could be really successful. One customer did mention how it would be tough to compete with all the other textbook services that are around now.

  1. I'm glad that everyone was onboard with the concept of your idea/service. Getting books for the upcoming semester can be a real hassle at times, as well as expensive, so a service that helps to counter this problem would help many students in general. I think it's interesting that you did not choose to ask a traditional set of questions for the customers, but instead only spoke to them about your service's overall concept and idea. It made the interviews short, but it still gave insight into what the customers thought. Good job on this. Here is my link: http://entintheair.blogspot.com/2016/02/customer-interviews-no-3.html

  2. Hey Matthew! I really liked your enthusiasm in your interviews. I personally think that you need an innovative element that nobody else has to make your app successful. You would be competing with the big names like Chegg and Amazon along with other smaller sites. Also, there is an online site that compares all the prices of these pages. Also, there is Facebook sale pages a lot of college campuses have and use as well as apps like yours. You really have to have something extraordinary so that you will stand out. 3. Hey Matthew. It seems like you are definitely confident going around interviewing people now. I think your idea is definitely a need and a great oppotunity for college caampuses. The app could help students connect for an easier means of creating transactions, and it could connect students who are taking the same classes together. However, I do agree with the last interviewer. There is a Facebook page called UF Book Exchange which is very successful. To Compete with that, would advise to make the interface and means of getting to the transaction easier. That way you have advantages over facebook.

  4. Hi Matthew, I really liked your interviews. Most people's interviews tend to be highly structured, and give them the answers to exact questions that they have. I liked the way that you switched it up, and allowed them to just think freely about your business idea, as that form of interviewing can lead to valuable answers to questions that you never even would have though to ask in the first place.

  5. Matt,
I love this idea! I would absolutely download or pay for this app. I have so many textbooks that sit in my room. I understand what people are saying about your competition but I think your advantage is the fact that other sites stop accepting textbooks if it's considered outdated. After one semester, I've gone back and not been able to sell a book I paid $300 for. Great concept and I really enjoyed your thorough explanation of your business concept.

  6. Hey Matthew, I can tell that you've gained a lot of experience with interviewing customers through these exercises. You seem very confident and very good at stimulating the interest of potential customers for your application. I like that your questions were very free-flowing, which allows you to learn as much as possible about what your interviewees are looking for. Unfortunately, I missed this exercise, so I can't provide a link to my own post.
